FAQ
The exam consists of two parts:
1. A 10-minute informal interview with the examiner in which you talk about your
flying experiences. It is about your career, special incidents or
unusual situations in flight and what you have learned from them. You may also be asked
other questions that develop from the conversation. The examiner can also
bring in pictures to accompany the conversation.
2. A computer-based test with 30 short questions (for Level 4: only 20 questions) that are automatically generated by the test software.
You have to answer these questions within a given time frame
(between 30 seconds and 2 minutes per question). This part tests your
knowledge of common aviation phraseology and your ability to express yourself clearly
and understandably in English. The examiner will guide you through this test phase and
can help with any problems.
The exam lasts approx. 45-60 minutes.
With appropriate preparation, this is also the total duration of the online meeting. You can help us with this, see: What do I need for the
exam? What documents do I need to have ready for the test?
-A device with microphone and camera as well as a stable internet connection, we recommend Tabel or desktop computer
-Pen and paper to take notes
-A glass of water
-A quiet, undisturbed environment
-Your original identification document
You will need a valid ID document on the test day, otherwise no other documents are required on the test date itself. However, you can help us with the preparation. In order to take the test, you must first register in the designated test system. For this purpose, we require the following information and documents, which you are welcome to send us by e-mail to info@skymentor.de:

identity card).
A scan of your pilot’s license (if you already have a license; otherwise this
point is omitted).
We require the following information in text form:
o Full name
o Date of birth
o Place and country of birth
o Current address
o Native language
o Telephone number
o Valid, personal e-mail address (office@ or similar is not permitted)
Yes, and we strongly recommend it! PPPPP – Proper preparation prevents poor performance
Prepare for the 10-minute interview by taking notes on the topics mentioned above and presenting them in a simulated interview. Make sure that the interview does not last longer than 10 minutes – this also helps to avoid nervousness.
Practice describing pictures related to aviation in detail (e.g. from top left to top right, the middle, from bottom left to bottom right).
For the aviation phraseology part, you can use the training material from your English radiotelephony training. If you do not have this material, you may be interested in one of the preparation options mentioned above.
For the aeronautical radio phraseology part, you can use the training material from your English radiotelephony training. If you do not have this material, you are welcome to contact us.
Otherwise, we recommend the description of pictures that deal with the subject of aviation. You can obtain a selection from us.
The final decision must be made shortly before the start of the test. We will be happy to help you choose the appropriate level; you can also find some information on our homepage.
The test is designed according to the desired level. If the desired level is not achieved, any level with a lower requirement level can still be awarded. However, a higher grade is no longer possible once the difficulty level has been selected and the test must be retaken.
After 48 hours at the latest, you will receive your test result as a certificate and can submit it to your authority.
You will receive the following documents by email:
Your certificate of English language proficiency, which confirms the language level you have achieved
A copy of our certificate from the language test center
A copy of the license(s) of the two examiners
Our certificate is recognized within all EASA states. Our certificate is also widely recognized outside the EASA, but in this case we are happy to help with clarification in advance – we are not aware of any rejection to date.
If the desired level is not achieved, any level with a lower level of difficulty can still be awarded. However, a higher rating is no longer possible once the difficulty level has been selected and the test must be retaken.
